"Why can't I register a domain name myself?"

That got your attention, didn't it? It's hard to believe that this question still appears over and over again in Internet FAQs, implying that somehow you need an intermediary agent in order to register a domain name. Nothing could be further from the truth, but we just couldn't resist including the question in our own FAQ.

Of course you can register a domain name yourself!! You can do it right now!

In fact, it usually avoids problems if you register your own domain name yourself. That way, you decide how you want your contact information displayed. You decide who you will designate as your administrative and technical contacts. All too often we hear from domain name owners who have lost control over their domain names because someone else set up the registration badly. (Yes, we usually can help you solve such problems.)

If you don't have DNS servers or a hosting provider yet, then "park" your domain, or put it on hold. It's simple and, through BestRegistrar.com, it's free.
You don't need to pay an intermediary for use of name servers until you actually begin using your name for a web site.
